Rigid Rail Personal Ladder Fall Arrest System

1910.28(b)(9)(i) "(...) For fixed ladders (that extend more than 24 feet above a lower level, the employer must ensure each fixed ladder is equipped with a personal fall arrest system (...)"

Cages no longer meet OSHA standards for fall protection on ladders installed on or after November 19th, 2018.

Our Rigid Rail Personal Ladder Fall Arrest System is designed to meet OSHA 1910.28 standards for fall protection for fixed ladders.

The rigid rail system is available in either aluminum or stainless steel and can attach to any ladder - steel, aluminum, stainless steel, or fiberglass, with the supplied rung clamps. The rear of the rigid rail is slotted to allow the rung clamp hardware to fasten securely while remaining clear of the channel where the trolley runs.

A-Mezz Rigid Rail ladder rung clamp options

Each climber on the system is required to wear a body harness and that attaches to a free-moving trolley. As the climber moves up and down on the ladder, the trolley freely follows along the rigid track and instantly seizes up when a trip or fall occurs to arrest the fall.

Our Rigid Rail Personal Fall Arrest System can be used for any heights up to the OSHA maximum climb height of 150'. Rigid rail comes in 20' lengths and utilizes splice plates to allow for a seamless transition between sections.

Rigid Rail Personal Fall Arrest System Removable Extension Post

There is also an optional 54" removable extension post to increase safety while at the top of the ladder. This allows you to have your feet planted firmly on the landing surface while you remove or install the trolley onto the rigid rail.

All Rigid Rail Personal Fall Arrest Systems from A-Mezz include the rigid rail track, necessary installation hardware, trolley and full body harness. Please remember to order extra body harnesses and trolleys when placing your order. You will need one harness and one trolley for EACH climber. If you take one person up on your roof with you, you and that person will each need your own harness and trolley. It is not possible to share.

HOW TO ORDER

We will need to know the following information to ensure proper fit for your Rigid Rail Personal Fall Arrest System:

  1. Rung construction and dimensions
i.e. Steel ladder with round rungs 3/4" diameter.
  2. Height from floor to floor for the ladder, and whether or not it accesses a roof hatch or has walk-through handrails
I.e. 27' floor to floor - terminates at roof hatch
  3. How many climbers would be accessing system at any time
(This tells us how many harnesses and trolleys we will need)
  4. Whether you want the standard aluminum rail or need to go with the more costly stainless steel rigid rail
