{"id":236,"date":"2015-06-08T14:20:41","date_gmt":"2015-06-08T18:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.amezz.com\/blog\/?p=236"},"modified":"2015-06-08T14:20:41","modified_gmt":"2015-06-08T18:20:41","slug":"mezzanine-deck-surfaces-roof-deck-with-steel-plate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.amezz.com\/blog\/mezzanine-deck-surfaces-roof-deck-with-steel-plate\/","title":{"rendered":"Mezzanine Deck Surfaces: Roof Deck with Steel Plate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Let\u2019s continue on with our discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of the various types of deck surfaces we offer on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amezz.com\/mezzanines.html\">mezzanines<\/a>.\u00a0 First we talked about corrugated roof deck with resindek.\u00a0 We mentioned that it was an extremely versatile and cost effective solid deck type, but that as a wood composite material it doesn\u2019t perform well in environments where it is prone to getting wet.\u00a0 Next we talked about open bar grating:\u00a0 an open steel deck surface that excels in outdoor\/wash down environments as it allows water, snow, and debris to fall through.\u00a0 While texture in the bar grating provides a very grippy surface, it makes it very difficult to move pallets across and there are times when you don\u2019t want materials to fall through the deck.\u00a0 Today we\u2019re going to talk about a mezzanine deck surface that combines features of both of these &#8212; corrugated roof deck with steel plate.<\/p>\n<p>Like roof deck and resindek, roof deck with steel plate is a solid deck surface composed of two layers.\u00a0 The strength of the deck comes from the corrugated roof deck.\u00a0 The steel plate is there to provide a flat surface to walk across.\u00a0 Typically we use a smooth plate which allows for easy transport of pallets, carts and other rolling materials.\u00a0 Every once in a while though, where this is not the plan, we\u2019ll go with a steel plate that has a raised texture to it, providing a better grip.\u00a0 It\u2019s a very strong and durable deck surface, and being a steel deck, it holds up in potentially wet environments.\u00a0 In particularly wet environments you\u2019ll want to seam weld the deck and set up a drainage system so the water doesn\u2019t get trapped in the corrugation.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest disadvantage of roof deck with steel plate is its cost, which is comparable to open bar grating.\u00a0 Many of the applications that call for a closed deck mezzanine would be equitably serviced by resindek as it would by steel plate.\u00a0 The resindek would have the advantage, though, as it is significantly less expensive.\u00a0 Unless it\u2019s in a potentially wet environment or being installed in a location where no wood is allowed, you might as well save your money and go with the resindek.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let\u2019s continue on with our discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of the various types of deck surfaces we offer on our mezzanines.\u00a0 First we talked about corrugated roof deck with resindek.\u00a0 We mentioned that it was an extremely versatile and cost effective solid deck type, but that as a wood composite material it doesn\u2019t [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-236","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-mezzanines"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.2 -
